Learn how to crochet the C2C moss stitch and work up anything from a coaster to a dishcloth to a baby blanket! This is an easy project with a simple stitch repeat, perfect for mindless crocheting while watching TV, chatting with your spouse, or listening to an audiobook.

Above is a little coaster I made using the same yarns as you see in the baby blanket. I love the look of uneven striping, and the woven texture of this stitch is so lovely!
My interest in C2C stitches sparked from this lovely article by Made by Gootie. She has several other C2C stitch tutorials featured on her blog.

Recently, I redid this pattern!

I saw Moogly share about the Warm Up America! 2026 Baby Blanket Drive, and I was eager to work up a blanket to donate!

I used leftover yarn from my Fast and Easy Single Crochet Temperature Baby Blanket! Which do you like better?

P.S. If you missed the baby blanket drive, Warm Up America! takes donations year-round. :)

In the new version, I’ve added a camel stitch border (my favorite!) for a more polished completed project.

I hope you enjoy this pattern!

I found stitch markers essential when working this pattern! I suggest placing stitch markers in ALL of the ch-1 and ch-2 spaces for the first 4-5 rows, including that first ch-3 sp, and after that in the ch-2 spaces at the end of rows for the remainder of the pattern.
You can watch a class I taught featuring the C2C moss stitch at FaveCrafts here.

Camel Stitch Border

Border Notes: Border is worked in joined rnds same-side facing. In Rnd 1, aim to place about 11 sts for every 9 row-ends for a border that lies flat. This is a sort of tricky and annoying multiple, so it may be easier to check frequently how the edge lays, and if it starts to cup, frog and place a few more sts.
Rnd 1: With border color, pull up a loop in any corner, ch 1 to attach, [hdc across, in the corner work (hdc, ch 1, pm**, hdc)] four times ending the final rep at **, sl st join. <Not including ch-1 corners, each edge of the blanket should have about 107 sts.>
Rnds 2-8: Ch 1, hdc back into the ch-1 corner, [hdc in the back third loop of each st across, in the ch-1 corner sp work (hdc, ch 1, pm**, hdc)] four times ending the final rep at **, sl st join. <2 sts increased on each side of the blanket per rnd. At the end of Rnd 8, excluding ch-1 corners, each edge of the blanket should have 121 sts.>
Cut yarn, fasten off, and weave in ends.

This blanket is so beautiful, and a wonderful way to use up yarn scraps! I took Dana’s class on C2C Moss Stitch through FaveCrafts and this lovely stitch really does work up mindlessly once you’re a few rows in. I can’t wait to crochet this blanket for a friend’s baby!
Thank You!
Looking forward to crocheting the patterns!

Looking forward making the patterns thank You!!
Beautiful! Thank you!
What yarn did you use for this beautiful colored blanket? It’s so vibrant!!
You are so sweet! I used a few different brands from my stash. I am pretty sure they were:
1 skein Caron Simply Soft in Harvest Red
1 skein Red Heart With Love in Mango
1 skein Red Heart With Love in Cornsilk
1 skein Red Heart Soft in Dark Leaf
1 skein Red Heart Soft in Deep Sea
1 Skein Red Heart With Love in Boysenberry
1 Skein I Love This Yarn in Purple
I hope that helps! A few of the colors might be hard to come by at this point, but I hope this is a helpful jumping off point. Good luck and enjoy!
