Learn to crochet the feather stitch! This one-row repeat is about to become a new favorite stitch for your next baby blanket project.

I cannot get enough of this texture!!
Similar to the puff stitch, the feather stitch is created by inserting your hook and yarning over several times to get seven loops on your hook. Then you yarn over and pull through all seven loops. The feather stitch’s unique appearance is achieved through inserting your hook in three different places as you create the stitch. Once you get the hang of it, this is a super mindless pattern!

I made this blanket for a dear coworker expecting her first baby. She happened to love the colors I used in my Pretty in Panels Stitch Sampler Crochet Baby Blanket, and I was excited to use a similar colorway for her gift.

The blanket is completed with a camel stitch border for a cozy finish. I love the camel stitch border and have used it often, like in these patterns (and more to come!):

I hope you enjoy this pattern!

Materials
- Brava Worsted Weight 4 Medium (100% Premium Acrylic, 218yd/200m, 3.5oz/100gm):
- Color A: 1 skein Persimmon
- Color B: 1 skein Candy Jar Stripe
- Color C: 1 skein Cotton Candy
- Color D: 1 skein Blush
- Color E: 1 skein Rosebud Speckle
- I Love This Yarn! Weight 4 Medium (100% Acrylic, 355yds/325m, 7oz/198g) Ivory 1 skein
- NOTE: Brava Worsted does not come in Ivory, which was my vision for the border color. If you’d prefer to make the whole blanket in Brava Worsted, I’d suggest picking a favorite color from the body of the blanket and ordering two extra skeins for that color. For example, I think Blush would make a lovely border color, too.

Turning ch never counts as a st.
To adjust the width of the blanket, ch any even number.

Camel Stitch Border
Decide which side of your blanket will be the right side. Border is worked right-side facing.
Rnd 1: With your border color, pull up a loop of yarn in the upper right-hand corner. In the same corner, work (ch 1, sc, pm, sc). [Sc across. In the corner, work (3 scs, pm in the middle sc). As you work along the side, aim to place 1 sc along each row-end, but every 20 sts or so work 2 scs into the same row-end. In the corner, work (3 scs, pm in the middle sc)] twice. When you reach your starting corner, instead of 3 scs, work 1 sc, then sl st join to your marked first st of the rnd. <Not including marked corners, the top and bottom of your blanket should have 75 sts, and the sides should have 89 sts.>
Rnd 2: Ch 1, hdc in the same st. Hdc across. [In the corner, work (hdc, ch 2, pm, hdc). Hdc across] three times. When you reach your starting corner, work (hdc, ch 2, pm, sl st join to your first st of the rnd). <Not including marked corners, the top and bottom of your blanket should have 77 sts, and the sides should have 91 sts.>
Rnd 3: Ch 1, hdc back into the ch-2 corner. Hdc in the back third loop of each st across. [In the ch-2 corner sp, work (hdc, ch 2, pm, hdc) Hdc in the back third loop of each st across] three times. When you reach your starting corner, work (hdc, ch 2, pm, sl st join to the first hdc in the rnd). <Not including marked corners, the top and bottom of your blanket should have 79 sts, and the sides should have 93 sts.>
TIP: It can be easy to accidentally work extra stitches around your ch-2 corners because it may look like there are more back loops to work into then there actually are! Rather than marking your ch-2 corner sps, you could instead mark the blo of each hdc worked in the corners. Then you will be able to undoubtedly see which stitches flank those corner spaces. I hope this tip helps!
See where the black arrow is pointing? Do not work an hdc into that stitch!

Rnds 4-7: Rep Rnd 3. You should increase by 2 sts along each edge of the blanket with each rnd. <At the end of Rnd 7, not including marked corners, the top and bottom of your blanket should have 87 sts, and the sides should have 101 sts.>
Rnd 8: Ch 1. Sl st in the back third loop of every hdc around the blanket and in the back bumps of the 2 chs in each corner. When you reach the start of the rnd, invisibly join to your first sl st of the rnd. If you don’t know how to invisibly join, I like this video tutorial from Bella Coco.
Cut yarn, fasten off, and weave in ends.
